I just downloaded a new image-editing program (GIMP 2.8), so I decided to put my limited skills to the test and develop a new logo for the site. It’s more or less based on the design of the past two logos, with the uncommon font (Rammetto One this time), primary colors, and multi-colored “kind,” but I made a few significant changes.
As usual, the main colors are the same — red for socialism, green for environmentalism, yellow for passion, and blue for academia / intellectualism. However, I shifted them from the center to the tagline, and added textures and patters like plaid, stripes, and cardboard to the center.
The colors and patterns in the “kind” are meant to show an appreciation for diversity — although we’re all different kinds (Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, black, white, gay, straight, trans*, male, female, genderqueer, popular, unpopular, etc.), we can still be kind to each other and live lives that value others’ cultures, religions, opinions, similarities, and differences.
No matter what “kind” you are, you’re deserving of love, respect, and equality .
I’ve also drawn up a new favicon to match:
I know I’ve changed logos like most people change socks, but I think I’ll be keeping this one for a while. Hope you like it!
